Scotland 2016: Ayrshire Coastal Path (North Segment)

Totaling 52 miles in 3 days, the northern segment of the Ayrshire Coastal Path included a stunning backdrop of  the Isle of Arran and the Cambrae Islands across the Firth of Clyde.  The route ran from Ayr to Largs with overnight stays in those locations as well as Irvine and Ardrossan.  In addition to the panoramic coastlines, the path ran adjacent to several beachfront golf courses including the Royal Troon Golf Club which hosted the 145th (British) Open six weeks after the conclusion of our adventure.  Along the route we visited a historic estate, castle and numerous war memorials. Matt Durfee was accompanied by Denise Orlando and the trek was given the honorary name of the "The Noel Ferguson Way" in recognition of a dear friend who passed away the week preceding the trip.

The following photos capture just a few of the memorable sights taken between May 28 - June 4, 2016.
