Scotland 2013: Loch Ness & Great Glen Way
Spectacular views of Loch Ness were just one of the many sights we encountered as we hiked the Great Glen Way from Fort William on the Atlantic Ocean coast to Inverness on the North Sea. Hiking approximately 80 miles over 5 days, we experienced exceedingly hospitable people and uncommonly nice weather. The trek took us along the towpaths of 19th century canals and to heavily wooded forests reaching heights of 1,500 feet. The Great Glen Way also included historical landmarks including the Old Fort at Fort William, Urquhart Castle, the Commando Memorial and Inverness Castle.
The following photos capture just a few of the memorable sights taken between May 30 - June 3, 2013.

A breathtaking view of the ruins of Urquhart Castle on the shore of Loch Ness. We hiked here from the nearby village of Drumnadrochit where we spent the night.

From the towpath of a 19th century canal, we caught a view of a quaint home across the adjacent River Lochy.

While we are awaiting the results of foresenic scientific analysis, we are excited that our photo of the Loch Ness Monster may bring us much fame & fortune!
