England 2015: Isle of Wight
Totaling 100 miles in 5 days when including excursions, the Isle of Wight was hiked twice in 2015 by two Bucket List Hiking Club groups. The scenic and hilly path mostly followed the isle's coastline which consisted of steep cliffs, quaint resort towns, WWII defensive structures, marinas and vast pastures. Historical sites visited included Queen Victoria's Osborne House, an imposing hilltop memorial for the poet Tennyson and ruins of a Roman villa. The first group was comprised of Monica Vazquez, Lisa Stewart and Sarah King and named the trek "The Midge Durfee Way" in honor of club founder Matt Durfee's mother who passed away two days before he was to accompany them. Rob Babcock and Scott Steiger accompanied Matt in the second group five months later.
The following photos capture just a few of the memorable sights taken between May 17 - 24 and October 18 - 25, 2015.
