Kilimanjaro 2017: Tanzania
While climbing 5 days to reach the 19,341' Uhuru Peak summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Matt Durfee and Anthony Lightman encountered blinding blizzard conditions, freezing rain and deafening horizontal lightening strikes. The reward was worth it, however, as both hikers checked-off a major bucket list adventure that they had dedicated to their deceased fathers.
The trek from the base of the mountain included a rich diversity of terrain including forest, moorland, desert, rain forest and, of course, the barren rocky summit that makes up Africa's highest mountain.
The following photos capture just a few of the memorable sights taken between April 16 - 21, 2017.
